Many anatomy lessons focus on the musculoskeletal system, these are the bones and muscles – with more emphasis on the bones.
Some go further to include the nervous system, the brain and nerves.
A good starting point when thinking of anatomy is considering the organs in the body.
There are five sense organs:
1.       Eyes
2.       Nose
3.       Tongue
4.       Skin
5.       Ears
These are all part of our anatomy. Then thinking more about organs and the systems they are a part of, there is the digestive system, the reproductive system, endocrine system, respiratory system, urinary, circulatory, pancreatobiliary (part of the digestive).
Can you name an organ in each system mentioned above?

Empowering Individuals Through Accessible Healthcare Information
As healthcare information becomes increasingly accessible to patients, the need for understanding medical terminology and improving health literacy is more crucial than ever.
Recently I did an anatomy short course and added some extra bits to my knowledge.
Such as planes of the body.
Sagittal plane - this the plane along the line that divides the body into left and right while in the anatomical position.
Frontal or coronal plane – this is the plane along the line that divides the body into front and back while in the anatomical position.
Transverse plane – this is the plane along the line that divides the body into top and bottom while in the anatomical position.
These terms would often be encountered in radiology reports and surgery notes.
Other variations of sagittal are parasagittal and midsagittal.
Parasagittal simply means that the line divides the body or organ into two unequal parts and midsagittal means that the line divides the body or organ into two equal parts.
